  1. Open letter – joint response from the EV ecosystem to Commissioner Breton’s comments on e-mobility in POLITICO

Open letter – joint response from the EV ecosystem to Commissioner Breton’s comments on e-mobility in POLITICO

We, as stakeholders from the entire e-mobility ecosystem, are writing to you to express our concerns over your most recent comments to Brussels media, in which you warned of “gigantic disruption” to the automotive sector in the face of reinforced car and van CO2 standards.

This “gigantic disruption” is in fact a major transition to a cleaner, more sustainable Europe in line with the legally binding obligations of the EU Climate Law. The phase-out of ICE cars and vans in 2035 – which was given a democratic mandate by the co-legislators just over one week ago and hailed as an example of European leadership ahead of COP27 – is crucial to provide certainty to investors, decision-makers and civil society.

  2. Statement - The Critical Role of Smart Electric Transport in Addressing the Energy Crisis

Statement - The Critical Role of Smart Electric Transport in Addressing the Energy Crisis

Europe is going through its worst energy crisis since the 1970s. All levers must be activated to minimize its impact on European households and companies. We, the undersigned associations active in the e-mobility and wider energy ecosystem believe that demand-side flexibility measures are currently under-leveraged in the EU’s response. The smart electrification of road transport can and should play a critical role in support of electricity demand reduction, energy independence, and the integration of more renewable electricity into power grids thanks to the activation of demand-side flexibility.

Recommendation Plan - Making Buildings Ready For Electric Mobility

We, the undersigned associations representing different parts of the e-mobility ecosystem, call on the EU institutions to amend the Energy Performance of Building Directive (EPBD) so that EV charging at home or at the workplace becomes easy and accessible for all.

  4. Position Paper- The Revision of CO2 Standards for Heavy Duty Vehicles

Position Paper- The Revision of CO2 Standards for Heavy Duty Vehicles

AVERE strongly welcomes the Commission’s initiative to revise the EU’s CO2 standards for Heavy Duty Vehicles (HDV). Lorries, buses and coaches are responsible for about a quarter of CO2 emissions from road transport in the EU, and for some 6% of total EU emissions[1]. Their full decarbonisation is a precondition for the EU’s aim of reaching climate neutrality in 2050.

  5. Joint Call: Support more ambitious CO2 Target for CARS AND VANS – GOING TO 100% ZERO EMISSION VEHICLES NO LATER THAN 2035 – WITH NO DOOR OPEN FOR FUELS!

Joint Call: Support more ambitious CO2 Target for CARS AND VANS – GOING TO 100% ZERO EMISSION VEHICLES NO LATER THAN 2035 – WITH NO DOOR OPEN FOR FUELS!

Europe’s lawmakers must agree on ambitious new climate legislation this year as this is the decade when we have to halve emissions. As extreme droughts, floods and temperatures are increasing in both intensity and frequency, the ‘Fit for 55’ package will determine whether Europe gets on track to reach net zero emissions by 2050 and fulfil the EU’s obligations under the Paris Agreement. It will also determine the future of one of the largest sources of greenhouse gases in Europe: cars and vans.
