A new member has joined the AVERE’s family: AVERE Turkey.
The association was inaugurated on March 12 2019 at an event hosted at the Bogazici University Research Center for Energy Policy. The key topic of the event was the transformative power of electric vehicles in the automotive sector.
The Rector of Boğaziçi University, Prof. Dr. Mehmed Özkan, made the opening speech of the conference, focusing on the changes coming to mobility in the near future and the need for an adequate charging infrastructure everywhere in the world.
He was followed by Prof. Dr. Gürkan Kumbaroğlu, Professor of Industrial Engineering and President of AVERE Turkey, who presented the new association as the hub for communication and coordination among all electromobility stakeholders in Turkey.
“Today there is a technology revolution in transportation” Dr. Gürkan Kumbaroğlu emphasized “Turkey needs to capture this change as a country”.
The event then concluded with the experts panel “Mobility in the Near Future” attended by Prof. Dr. Cem Avcı (AVERE Turkey Vice-President), Süer Sülün (Director and Chairman of the Board of Mercedes Benz Turkey), Hasan Yıldırım (TEMSE Inc. General Manager ), Haluk Sayar (AVERE Turkey Secretary General) and our Secretary General Philippe Vangeel.
The panel covered various topics such as technological progress, societal changes, and the need to increase investments and productions of electric vehicles to respond to future demand.
